Is morpheus' death canon with movie? Or should it be noted that Morpheus is alive in the movie but further reading tells us of his death in, what, the gameverse? Shoopmywoop 19:40, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

I know he died in The Matrix Online, did you mean that? --Steinninn 12:51, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

It is strange that morpheus would declare war on the machines just because he is banned from the Matrix. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.106.133.203 (talk) 00:43, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

I think it had more to do with the Machines apparantly not giving back Neo's Body. Of course, maybe General Brainwashed him or something? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.32.159.212 (talk) 12:03, 30 August 2009
Did Morpheus truly die? I never played the game, but the article seems to indicate that he either died, is alive and rtoaming around the Matrix, or is in that prison. Was it ever made clear which was the case? --Shimel (talk) 17:04, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
He was killed, but simulacra were made to imitate him, which led some people to believe he was still alive. --xensyriaT 17:08, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Is what was sent to that prison a simulcra as well? Sorry for the questions...I never got into the games. --Shimel (talk) 17:11, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Neither did I... and I'd never actually read about the prison before, but I think he died in the real world, and may have survived in this prison in the Matrix (like Neo and Trinity were said to have...).
In the Matrix Online a lot of stuff was deliberate misinformation, a lot of it was never fully explained before the game was axed, and the fragmented way that the plot was revealed (over a number of different servers) makes it hard to come up with a "definitive" version. It's kinda like digital archaeology to find out what happened, so if you find out anything more about it let us know! --xensyriaT 17:23, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Looking into it a bit more, this page and an article here on a hovercraft called the Jehovah were the only two hits on google for "Prison enfer profund. These edits and a few more were made by one user and an IP address, which makes them all look a lot like fanfic. I've removed them from the main wiki, but copied them first into comments on Sclera1's blog about the first of these fanfic articles he noticed. Cheers for pointing this one out too Shimel. --xensyriaT 18:40, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

Separating the movieverse[]

I think it's time to readdress this. Morpheus' actions in the game don't line up with the Matrix Ressurections' statements that Morpheus became head of the Council, that Morpheus believed that the Truce was ironclad (whereas his actions in MxO actually do a lot to jeopardize that) and that he l;ikely died of old age. Add the fact that other characters' backstories from MxO don't match up with their stories in Resurrections. I advocate a splitting of these details from the main sections into an 'In Other Media' section. Giftheck (talk) 14:58, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
This makes sense. The movies should be the main source of common truths for all fans. And then all other media should be treated as further readings with MxO content being more suspect because of their nature. (See Xensyria's comment above with MxO and "deliberate misinformation".) So I'll agree with you that keeping things separate will be tidier (until the next piece of media hits and changes things). And hey, I think it's working with the Agent Smith article.

Page split.[]

If the Morpheus from the new film is a computer program as many have assumed and I believe has possibly been official revealed, I feel like we should have two seperate pages once the film is released. One for the original Morpheus and one for the new apparent program. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 01:31, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Spoiler alert for the new film. I'm going to go ahead and do this, as Morpheus appears to be deceased by the events of the new film. It may be a program based upon Morpheus, but it is still a seperate being from him. Roger Murtaugh (talk) 12:58, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
