It was his own fervent belief which liberated him from the Matrix. He is the enemy of the Demonic gang in Sobra Shores called Legion.

When one of the intruder's Accelerator programs overrided the Demon Legion gang, Father Jonas, along with his brethren gang helped lead the Zionites operatives to the Legion gang-leader, Jezebeth. Jezebeth then helped them track down the accelerator.
