Agent Smith[]

Should Niobe (and Ghost) really be credited with surviving an encounter with Agent Smith and killing an Agent? Weren't these just consequences of them being playable characters in EtM (meaning they'd have to be able to do that or the game couldn't really be won)? It reads like they would've had those skills had the encounters taken place in the movies, and unless that was stated somewhere, I can't see how that'd be remotely true. --Shimel (talk) 20:21, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Enter the Matrix is supposed to be as much part of the Matrix mythos as the films, and the way that it ties in with Revolutions (e.g. the Freeway chase) means that the events of the game can be assumed to have happened in the film's story.
"survive and escape" doesn't actually seem unusual when it comes to Agents, with loads of examples, such as Trinity escaping two Agents at the start of the first film. And as Cypher said to Neo "A little piece of advice. You see an agent, you do what we do. Run."
When it come to killing the Agent, it reminds me of Run, Saga, Run. Agents are technically skilled, but also very limited by their rigid ways of thinking. In the game, the Agent is killed by making it fall off the back of a flying plane. Explosions are another way to kill an Agent (seen in a number of comics and the games), but, unless you're The One, you wouldn't be able to beat one in hand to hand combat or a firefight. --xensyriaT 19:40, September 9, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, thanks. I didn't realize that's how they killed them...that makes more sense. I saw a video on youtube where one of them was fighting hand-to-hand with Smith and winning (the playing version, not cut scenes), and that seems to flatly contradict what we saw in the movies, is why I brought it up. --Shimel (talk) 17:09, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I know what you mean... I don't really believe in strict definitions of "canon", but I agree that gameplay from EtM should be taken with a pinch of salt... --xensyriaT 17:25, September 11, 2012 (UTC)
