I watched The Matrix many years ago back when I was like 13, (25 now). I studied philosophy at university and The Matrix was brought up briefly, so I did understand and appreciate it's philosophical themes and ideas. But I never really re watched it until a few days ago. I now have an even deeper appreciation for the movie, and the triolgy in general.
The scene when Neo is taken out of the matrix for the first time really caught on to me. From the line "Have you ever had a dream that felt so real..." from Morpheus up to when Neo is being pulled up to the nebakaneza with the big claw. I don't know what it is but it really had a big impact on me. The way reality starts to break down with Neo touching the mirror. The awesome digital sound effect when the camera goes down Neos throat. Waking up in that horrifying pod surrounded by million of others towering upwards with the electricity bouncing off the pillars. The disturbing and unsettling goo and the look of Neo attached to all the wires. I try to put myself in Neos position and it really horrified me what that must be like. Seeing humans being farmed like that. The visuals and music are just fantastic in the way they effect me.
I've been watching those scenes over and over again and it really had an impact on me and I've been thinking about it all day. It's even had it's philosophy resonate with me, and I've been starting to question the nature of my reality and what I can know to be true. Something I haven't really actively done since I was studying.
I seriously can't stop watching it
Truly an incredible scene and movie as a whole.
Also, btw, is the Animatrix good? Worth watching?
