Title of The Man Who Knew Too Much – W. Wilbur W.'s only comic
W. Wilbur W. is probably an assumed name for the artist of The Man Who Knew Too Much, a story made for the first series of The Matrix Comics.
Background[]
The Man Who Knew Too Much was added to WhatIsTheMatrix.com on April 7, 1999, with the following entry to the Comics news section:
- "A relative newcomer to comics, W. Wilbur W. gives us this slice of paranoia."
Interpretation[]
The six image files for The Man Who Knew Too Much were named WWW1.jpg to WWW6.jpg from W. Wilbur W.'s initials WWW – the common abbreviation of the world wide web. The comic was removed early on from the official Matrix website.
"Wilbur" could potentially be a reference to the philosopher Ken Wilber.
Harlan Ellison, who is known to have written under many different pen names, was reported to have been contributing a Matrix story for the Wachowskis. As he is not credited as the author of any of the other comics, this may have been him.
